Karen Palmer is the type of person who instantly makes you feel welcome and at ease when you meet her. With a style of care focused on building trust, it’s no surprise that she’s been a caregiver for as long as she has. 1. How did you get into being a caregiver?
I worked for the Sheriff’s office for years before becoming a caregiver in 1996. I became a certified CNA in 2009. I think my background with the Sheriff’s department was where I found my passion for caring for others. I would help the inmates as much as I could with whatever they needed. Some of those things included gathering information or getting them what they needed if they were sick.
2. Why did you choose Keyline?
I just had a good feeling about the company, and I appreciated that every Keygiver has to read and promise to keep the Keygiver’s Pledge (an oath that Keygivers take promising to uphold the values of Keyline Home Care Solutions). Keyline takes what they do seriously, and they expect members of their team to do the same. You can tell a lot by a company’s leadership and the way they treat their team members. When I met Bernae (Bernae Plechette, Keyline’s CEO and Founder), there was something about her aura that let me know I was in the right place.
3. How would your friends describe you?
They would describe me as someone who is always smiling. They tell me all the time that they can never tell when I’m having a bad day because I’m always smiling.
4. How would you describe yourself?
I would describe myself as energetic and fun. I love life and try to live every day to the fullest.
5. What do you love most about being a professional caregiver?
